lttl files Privacy Policy
This policy explains how lttl files (“the App”) handles your information. The App has no ads, no accounts, no analytics and no tracking.
What the App collects
We do not collect, store or receive any personal information. Your files are never uploaded anywhere by the App.
All files access
The App is a file manager, so it asks for access to all files on your device (Android 11 and later) to let you browse, open, copy, move, rename and delete your photos, videos, music, documents and other files. This access is used only on your device, and only for the actions you take.
On Android TV, which has no all-files setting, the App asks instead for permission to read your photos, videos and music.
Text files
The App can open and edit text files such as notes, Markdown, CSV, JSON, logs and code. Other apps can also send it a text file with “Open with”. Changes are saved back to the same file on your device, and only when you choose to save. Text files are never uploaded anywhere by the App.
Hidden folders and screen lock
You can hide folders from the App. The App adds a .nomedia file to a hidden folder so other gallery apps skip it too, and removes only that file when you show the folder again. Hiding a folder does not encrypt or move its files.
To open your hidden folders, the App asks for your fingerprint, face, PIN, pattern or password through Android. Android checks it and only tells the App whether it matched: the App never sees or stores your biometric data or your screen lock.
Storage cleaner
The “Free up space” screen scans your storage on your device to find junk files, duplicates, old downloads and large files. To spot APK files whose app is already installed, it checks the list of apps you can open on your device. Nothing is deleted until you confirm, and nothing from the scan leaves your device.
Installing apps
If you open an APK file, the App hands it to Android’s installer, which asks you to confirm before anything is installed. The App never installs anything on its own.
Podcasts
Podcasts is the only part of the App that uses the internet:
- When you search for a podcast, the text you type is sent to the Apple iTunes Search API to find matching shows.
- Episode lists, cover art and audio are downloaded directly from each podcast’s publisher. Like any website, those servers see your IP address.
Your subscriptions and listening progress are stored only on your device.
Notifications and background playback
The App shows a notification while music or a podcast is playing, so playback can continue with the screen off.
Data stored on your device
Settings, the list of hidden folders, subscriptions and podcast downloads are stored only on your device. Android may include settings in your device’s own backup if you have backups turned on. Uninstalling the App deletes them; your own files stay where they are.
Children
The App is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone.
Changes to this policy
If the way the App handles data changes, we will update this page and the date at the top before releasing that version.
